We are buzzing to announce Insect Week at Edinburgh Zoo. Join the ranger team for a week of hotly ANT-icipated activities, talks and tours celebrating the importance of insects around the world.
There will also be chance to discover the wee beasties RZSS is helping conserve nationally and internationally. Head to our website for more information!
Several talks will be occurring throughout the week:
• Pollinator tours
• Invertebrate table talks
• 10-minute invertebrate talk including handling of stick insect, snail or cockroach
There will also be a selection of one-off talks throughout the week:
Tuesday 23rd June, 18:00 – Online 45min Evening talk
Join George, our Conservation Manager, as she talks about the incredible invertebrates we work with here at RZSS and how their conservation is going. The talk will be approximately 45 minutes, with time after for questions if you would like to know more
Thursday 25th June, 13:00 – In Person talk
Join Craig, one of our Senior Animal Keepers, as he talks about the perilous plight of Partula snails and how we’ve helped bring them back from the brink of extinction. The talk will be approximately 45 minutes, with time after for questions if you would like to know more.
Although maybe not the first animal you think of as important, snails are an essential part of our planet’s ecosystems. Join us for some amazing slime-time, you might even leave shell-shocked!
