Join Meanderers and celebrate the summer solstice with an interesting insect walk, some delicious food and the opportunity to create your own insect inspired badge or beaded brooch!

Walk: Dr Linda Birkin, a community entomologist will be taking us on a local walk around the area, finding insects, identifying them and showing you how to safely handle them and telling you why these tiny critters are so important. There is also the opportunity to have our finds be part of citizen science data!

Eat: After the walk you will be served a tasty meal of Pollinators Pasta, including the foods that are most reliant on pollinators to exist, not only will this meal be delicious and social but also will be an opportunity to see the impacts insects have on our day to day lives! All food will be plant based and have a no gluten option on request

Make: Amelia Daiz will guide you in a practical creative workshop to make your own bug badge or beaded brooch. You will have the opportunity to make your own illustrated badge or beaded bug brooch inspired by the creatures we’ve spotted and learnt about. All materials provided, no experience needed.
