We’re going on a bug hunt –on land, on water and in the air!

Bring your magnifying glass and discover the little things that run the world – insects! Pick up the FREE Big Wetland Bug Hunt guide – can you find them all?

At family pond dipping sessions get close up to diving beetles, caddis fly larvae and pond skaters with our friendly Learning Team.

Try sweep netting in the Wildlife Garden and see what you can catch (and release).

Big Bug weekend activities include:
Family Pond Dipping sessions at the Raised pond. You must book at the admissions desk. £3 donation appreciated. 10.30-11.00 am, 11.00-11.30 am, 2.30-3.00 pm or 3-3.30 pm
Try a Sweep Netting insect survey at free, drop-in sessions in the Wildlife Garden, 11.45-12.45 pm
Go dragonfly spotting from the boat safari 10.30 am-3.30 pm
Drop into our free craft session at the Outlook In building to create a mini-bug hotel to help care for insect wildlife at home. 1.30-2.30 pm

The Pond has raised sides so can accomodate wheelchair users or those who must be seated.

The boats are wheelchair accessible for manual wheelchairs.

Pathways across the site are paved, including the path through the wildlife garden for the sweep netting activity.
